A Serapis in mythology is the
ancient god of the underworld. Their self titled CD is in fact the
soundtrack to that underworld. Mixing doom, thrash, and dark melodies,
Serapis has created an album that is as unique as it is volatile. The
band formed from the core members of Memphis's My Surrender, perhaps
the biggest local in that town since the year 2000. After the dismissal
of the My Surrender vocalist, Serapis emerged armed and ready for fans
of Between the Buried and Me, Mastodon, and Darkest Hour.

"Sure bands like Lamb Of God and Darkest Hour have already beaten
them to the punch, but Serapis are more than capable of reopening the
wounds."

"its thunderous moments got me slamming pretty hard and its
restrained core persona, made it far less cookie cutter material."
