Artist: Dora
Title:
 Dead Horse Lounge
Release Date:
Label: Smith Seven / Madeline
Format: Full-Length CD

Easily one of my (brian vernon) favorite albums of all time, Dora's only full length combines indie rock with an ambient soundscape that only some young dudes from Memphis could put together. Ben Canady's pained lyrics mix with Brandon Kinder's infectious guitar melodies and create and album that was well ahead of its time. The start of our golden years, this album took the combined efforts of everone in the Smith7 Records family. Recorded (& partially written) in Tolono, IL, Dead Horse Lounge was funded by the label's entire budget/life savings. Engineered and mixed by Matt Talbott (Hum, Centaur) and Mastered and mixed by Keith Cleversley (Flaming Lips among others). Dora broke up in 2002. Members of Dora are now in these bands: This Is Goodbye and Homer Hiccolm & The Rocket Boys.
